Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 10 (IANS): The much-awaited Malayalam film based on the brutal murder of former CPI-M leader T.P. Chandrasekheran will release on Friday, and Kerala's minister for cinema Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Thursday said he will watch it.

The minister told IANS he will watch the film titled "TP 51" and directed by Moidu Thazhathu on Friday itself.

"The film is to be released in 38 centres, of which four are theatres owned by state-owned KSFDC. I am told the release will not take place in Badagara, the hometown of Chandrasekheran.

"Even though the CPI-M has not said anything openly against the film, there is some sort of fear, and hence, we will know only tomorrow (Friday) at how many theatres the film will be screened," said Radhakrishnan.

Chandrasekheran, 51, was ousted from the CPI-M and later launched the Revolutionary Marxist Party. He was hacked 51 times by assailants on May 4, 2012 when he was returning home on his motorcycle near his hometown. Following the murder, 11 people were sentenced to life imprisonment.

"This film had faced issues when it failed to pass muster with the censors in the capital city and it got cleared only from Mumbai," said Radhakrishnan, who was the state home minister when the murder took place.
