Professor Roland Norer studied at the School of Law at the University of Vienna, where he obtained his Master of Law (Magister Iuris) in 1994. Since then, he has worked for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Water Management (predominantly concentrating on Rural Law, European Law and Austrian Constitutional Law); deputy manager; member of the examining board, and instructor on the examination commission. In 2000 he completed a doctorate at the School of Law at the University of Vienna with a dissertation on legal philosophy and legal theory.
Professor Norer has held faculty positions at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria, in 2001 where he lectured in European Law, and at the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan, Germany, where he taught Agricultural Law in 2002. He has also lectured at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences in Vienna and at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Vienna since 2004. In 2005 he completed his post-doctoral lecture qualification at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Sciences in Vienna with a dissertation on "The evolution of agricultural law.
