Muro (the word for “wall” in Spanish) as the work is aptly called, is part of Art Night, a one-night contemporary art festival that will be held on Saturday, July 7. Composed of 1,600 bricks fabricated in Mexico and individually signed by the artist, the 26-foot wall will be erected at London’s Southbank Centre. But the significance of the wall is not its construction, but rather its communal destruction. Over the course of the evening, visitors will be invited to disassemble the work brick by brick; they can even take a brick home with them to remember their contribution to the collaborative experience.

Enacted over a single day on Sunday, May 23, Tabula Rasa will begin at dawn in #WashingtonSquarePark, New York, with the installation of 439 small-scale clay spheres, each symbolizing one day of the COVID-19 pandemic’s duration.
On view from 9am–1pm, the artwork will begin a second phase at 1pm, when New Yorkers passing through the park will be invited to take home a single clay sphere from the installation, a gesture which allows each person to become a part of the performance.
Those who take the spheres home will be able to plant them in soil, activating another phase of the work during which the seeds within will germinate. Loaded with symbolism concerning new beginnings, transformation, and creative possibility, Sodi’s Tabula Rasa seeks to bring together the diverse individuals that make up the city’s community as New York embarks on a second year of uncertainty and disruption.
